the road to shambala

In 1973 the rock band Three Dog Night released a song called Shambala. I just heard it pop up again on an episode of the television series LOST.

The lyrics to the song were written by American poet Daniel Moore who became a Sufi Muslim in 1970 and now goes by the name Abd al-Hayy Moore.

What drew me back to this song was its name. Shambala is a Sanskrit term meaning “place of peace, tranquility and happiness”.

I thought this would be an appropriate beginning for my new blog as this is exactly what I want to blog about, finding the place of peace, tranquility and happiness.
