delicious peace

textI came across an article at Conscious Choice the other day about a coffee co-op in Uganda called the Mirembe Kawomera cooperative. The name means Delicious Peace in the Luganda language.

The cooperative was founded by JJ Keki, a coffee farmer living in Uganda. Keki literally went door to door to neighboring farmers and was able to get them to form this cooperative using the fair trade system to better market their coffee. What makes this story so beautiful is that the community of farmers is made up of Moslems, Christians, and Jews thus arriving to the name Delicious Peace.

In a country that has been suffering with so much intolerance, here are people trying to make it better by working together for peace and prosperity.

The coop was discovered by The Thanksgiving Coffee Store where you may purchase Mirembe Kawomera coffee and find out more about their cause.
