Scot with one “T” is an adorable young boy who recently lost his mother. He likes costume jewelry, the color pink and singing songs from classical musicals. Speak is a film which delicately reflects how a young high school woman (Melinda Sordino) deals with a very traumatic event that took place at the end of the previous school year. If you like to hike, or would like to take a glimpse as to what it is like to be a serious hiker and travel by foot along the 2,170 mile chain of Appalachian trails that run from Main to Georgia, then this is an amazing movies to see. We rented this movie on the recommendation of my son as he heard about it in his Spanish class. This movie addresses the hardships of mental illness and I wish there were more movies out there like this as mental illness is an issue where society often pretends as though it does not even exist. My family was getting tired of foreign films and having to read their way through a movie, so I got them to agree on an Australian film where at least they understood the language. I really didn’t know what to expect when I sat down to watch this movie. Just happened to glance at this in the video store while passing by and was drawn to it by the beautiful cover and all the awards it won. With that many awards it was sure to be good. |
