This is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. From the vivid blues and reds and oranges, to the exhilarating music that vibrates even your heart, to the astounding classical Indian Kuchipudi dancing by the lovely Mamatha Bhukya who played 14 year old Vanaja. A charming and inspiring story which shows you that no matter what your age, you can still have dreams and as long as you have life, you have the power to make them come true. This is the kind of movie that really makes you stop and take another look at a person before making an opinion without knowing the story beneath. I have so much respect for teachers because they truly are the epitome of our society and it is such a thankless job. Teachers have the power to motivate the creativity in a child and inspire dreams that could truly alter not only their lives, but the lives of those they touch as well. When I picked up this movie, I was under the impression that it was a light hearted romance. So if you are in the mood for light hearted, you may want to wait for another day to watch as this movie is clearly a drama, and an explosive one at that. I have seen the film "Water" in the video stores for quite some time now. It was first released in 2005 and I finally picked it up a few weeks ago. "Water", which is spoken in Hindi, takes you back in time to Varanasi, India in 1938 during British rule [...] When I first walked past this movie in the video store I saw the pink cover with a dorky looking guy on the front and thought to myself "that looks like a really stupid move".
I had the opportunity to watch this DVD a few weeks ago. |
