I just found it absolutely amazing that this painting was done entirely with “Sharpie” pens. I am attracted to paintings that not only have appealing colors, but also those that are able to create a certain amount of texture. I discovered today that there is an actual technique to creating such texture called encaustic. The technique uses molten beeswax to bind pigments, transfer images and to create collages. The works of Vian Sora have inspired me for a few years now and her passion for art is most evident in all her paintings. There is something quite spiritual that flows through them and some are almost haunting. Over the years I find myself being drawn to pieces of abstract art like those of Aleta Pippin. |
